Think Bike

Think bike....I say FUCK Bike...

So, in South Africa, there's an organisation, called Think Bike, that raises awareness about Motorcycles and Bicycles that drive on our roads. I can respect the idea behind the initiative, for I have first hand experience of how dangerous it can be to drive on a 2 wheeled machine, with a engine between the legs. Here is the problem I have though...

I drive on home on the N1 every day after work, this is the biggest motorway in the country, and get's bumper to bumper traffic every morning and afternoon. The piece of the motorway that I drive on, has 3 lanes going in the direction that I travel in. The motorcycles that take this same motorway, does not find it important to stay in these lanes, instead they choose to drive on the white lanes that separate the 3 lanes. So, when I (or any other motorist for that matter) need to change lanes, they expect us to see them coming through at the speed of sound, as well as focus on all the other vehicles on the road next to, in front and behind me.

It has happened twice recently that I have almost knocked someone off a bike while changing lanes, on both occasions the person on the bike decided to slow down, drive next to me and rev their engines, as if to say "watch where you're driving". On both occasions, I promptly put my hand out the window, and greeted them with a middle finger and shouted something like "fuck off you cunt" just before they speed away.

To me it seems highly unfair that we, as motorists, are expected to look out for the bikers, when they obviously have no regard for personal safety, by racing through traffic between the cars, instead of just staying in the lanes like the law tells you to do.

I can tell you this much, if I had hit one of these bikers off their bikes, I would not even feel remotely sorry, plainly because I believe that if you want to be stupid then you have to face the shit that comes your way.

So, to all the bikers out there that drive like cunts, I say this: "drive like normal, sane people, or be prepared to be FUCKED, cunts"
